What is a WhatsApp message template?
A message format approved by Meta that businesses must use to start a WhatsApp conversation (for example a broadcast, reminder or order update). Once a customer replies, you can chat freely for 24 hours.
How long does Meta take to approve a template?
Usually a few minutes, sometimes up to 24 hours. Templates with clear wording, realistic examples and an opt-out button are approved fastest.
What is the difference between marketing and utility templates?
Marketing templates promote offers, news or events. Utility templates confirm or update something the customer requested, such as an order or appointment. Meta prices and reviews them differently.
Who can I send WhatsApp marketing messages to?
Only people who agreed to receive WhatsApp messages from your business. Email consent does not count. Every marketing message should let people opt out, for example with a “Stop promotions” button.
